2019 Nissan Navara N-Trek Review

Some days it seems that car brands pump put model after model just to keep up, without really adding anything new.

Thats not necessarily the case here however, in a strange way, it kind of is.

Check out this review of the Nissan Navara N-Trek from CarSales and you be the judge.

The Series 4 Nissan Navara is now on sale in Australia, this N-Trek model arriving as the new range topper Building on the brand’s previous and very popular black editions, the N-Trek adds a host of exterior details designed to ensure this dual cab ute stands out from the pack.

While there’s no real engineering changes to the Series 4 Navara over last year’s model, the N-Trek update ensures the Navara has more to interest to the lifestyle buyer.

The N-Trek is based on the top specification Navara ST-X and adds new black alloy wheels, decals, fender flares, sportsbar, roof rails and front and rear black design highlights. It also has flashed of orange detailing on the side steps, lower front fascia and wing mirrors And on the inside, the N-Trek adds additional features which catch it up to the competition.

Front and centre is A new infotainment system featuring an 8-inch colour touchscreen that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and Satellite Navigation. The system is easy to use and the navigation set up is very straightforward.

There’s also some other great details including leather appointed seats with orange stitching which carries on the theme from the exterior and heated seats. Also new is a power adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar driving footage.

With the exception of those exterior and interior highlights, not much has changed. It’s still offers genuine off-road capability and decent ground clearance. And its still powered by 2.3-litre turbo-diesel engine and is available with both a six-speed manual gearbox and the seven-speed automatic transmission we’re sampling here.

Ends, could do with a lot more sound deadening. Like a lot of dual cab utes, the rear end of the Navara would benefit from a load to balance out its ride, which takes a while to settle when cornering.

Last year’s Navara ST Black Edition featured an off-road focused tyres, which made it noisier, but the new N-Trek sees a return to a quieter Toyo tyre, which improves the drive experience. Steering feel is quite light which makes the Navara feel less of a handful to drive than some of its competitors.

One of the other great features that I like is the 360 degree camera, it makes manoeuvring a dual cab ute so much easier.

The Nissan Navara N-Trek has some great details which will see it appeal to lifestyle buyers – and all those design highlights will set it apart in the Bunnings carpark, but it misses out on driver assistance technology and isn’t as refined as some of its competitors.

With a price approaching $60,000 buyers may well be looking for a bit more from their dual-cab ute.
